A Three-Day Festival Reviving the Heritage of Bangladeshi Winter Delicacies
From January 14 to January 16, 2025, Dhaka Icon Academy organized a vibrant three-day Pitha Festival, celebrating the rich culinary heritage of rural Bangladesh. This event aimed to introduce urban communities, especially children, to the traditional flavors of winter.
One of the event's key messages was, “Winter feels incomplete without Pithas, just like spring feels empty without music!” Highlighting the dwindling presence of this cultural tradition, the academy's management arranged this unique initiative to bring the charm of rural winter to the city.
Atfa Mart, a prominent partner in the festival, showcased a variety of delicious pithas, including rosy syrup-soaked pithas, binni rice cakes, and toddy palm-infused delicacies. Representing Atfa Mart, Imi Yasmin and Rabeya Rita expressed their commitment to preserving this cultural heritage.
"Our city children often miss out on experiencing these age-old traditions. Through this festival, we’ve brought the taste of rural Bangladesh to them. If similar initiatives are organized in other areas, it could further help in bridging this cultural gap," said the Director of Atfa Mart.
The event successfully created an engaging platform where families and children explored the diversity and significance of Bangladeshi winter delicacies, promoting the preservation of a beautiful tradition for future generations.
