Russian Forces Take Control of Vozdvizhenka in Donetsk Amid Ongoing Conflict
Russia Captures Another Village in Ukraine
Russian forces have seized control of Vozdvizhenka, a village in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The news, reported by the Interfax agency on Sunday, adds to a series of territorial gains claimed by Russia in recent days.
On Saturday, Russia announced the capture of two other settlements, including Itrypavlivka, located between the towns of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove in Donetsk. The region has been a hotspot for months of heavy fighting. Additionally, Russian forces reportedly took control of Vremivka, a cluster of small settlements in the same region.
However, these claims remain unverified as Reuters reported it could not independently confirm Russia's latest territorial gains.
Since the war began in February 2022, Russia has been attempting to gain control of Ukraine's Donbas region, comprising Donetsk and Luhansk. So far, Russian forces have occupied approximately 20% of Ukraine's territory, according to reports.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's air force claims to have intercepted 43 out of 61 drones launched by Russia overnight. The attacks were reportedly aimed at various locations across Ukraine.
While Ukraine's air defense successfully neutralized these aerial threats, the extent of any casualties or damage caused by the drone strikes remains unclear.
The ongoing conflict continues to escalate, with both sides intensifying their military activities and vying for control over strategic territories in the war-torn region.
